1. Who we are

Gokoo Contests (“we”, “us”, “the platform”) is a free online examination and practice platform for NEET and JEE aspirants in India. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why, and what rights you have over it.

2. If you are under 18

This platform is used mainly by minors. If you are under 18, a parent or legal guardian registers the account on your behalf, using their own email address, in line with India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023. At registration, the parent/guardian:

• Reviews this Privacy Policy and our Terms of Service
• Confirms consent for the student’s use of the platform
• Chooses (or lets the student choose) a display handle for the student — not the student’s real name (see Section 3)

The student then uses their own password to log in and take exams independently, while the parent’s email remains the account’s registered contact for consent, password reset, and account recovery.

If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has registered without your knowledge or consent, please contact us at subhangi@gokoo.in and we will address it, including deleting the account if you request it.

3. What data we collect

• Account information:a parent/guardian’s email address (used for registration, consent, and account recovery — never displayed publicly), a student-chosen display handle (not a real name — shown publicly on leaderboards and results, similar to a username), password (stored as a secure hash, never in plain text)
• We do not collect or store the student’s real legal name anywhere.
• Exam activity:which papers/contests you attempt, your answers, your scores, time spent per question, device/browser type, and IP address (used only for exam-integrity purposes — e.g. detecting a duplicate attempt — never for tracking or advertising)
• Uploaded content:if you’re a teacher or admin, any questions, images, or documents you upload

We do notcollect location data, contacts, phone numbers, or any data beyond what’s needed to run the exam platform itself.

4. Why we collect it

• To create and manage your account
• To run and grade exams and contests, and show you your results
• To maintain a leaderboard for the paper/contest you attempted
• To detect and prevent one account being used to cheat via multiple simultaneous attempts
• To send you account-related emails (password reset, email verification) — never marketing emails

5. Who we share it with

We use a small number of service providers to run this platform, each solely to provide their specific function — none of them are permitted to use your data for their own purposes:

• Supabase (database and file storage hosting)
• Railway (application hosting)
• Resend (sending password-reset and verification emails)
• Cloudflare (backup storage)
• Sentry(error monitoring — only technical error data, not your exam answers or personal details)

We do not sell your data to anyone, under any circumstances. We do not run advertising and never will.

6. How long we keep it

Your account and exam data is kept as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we anonymize your personal information (name and email are replaced with a non-identifying placeholder) but keep your exam attempt records so that leaderboards other students have already seen remain accurate and unchanged. Your name and email are permanently removed and cannot be recovered.

7. Your rights

You (or, if you are a minor, your parent/guardian on your behalf) can:

• Accessthe personal data we hold about you — contact subhangi@gokoo.in
• Correct inaccurate information via your account settings
• Delete your account, which anonymizes your personal data (see Section 6)
• Withdraw consent at any time by deleting your account

8. Security

We use industry-standard practices to protect your data: encrypted connections (HTTPS) everywhere, hashed passwords, and access controls limiting who can see your data. No system is 100% secure, but we take reasonable, ongoing steps to protect your information.

9. Changes to this policy

If we make significant changes to this policy, we’ll notify registered users via email and update the “Last updated” date above.
